A bottle of red, a bottle of white... and spa for you!

Wednesday, February 18, 2009

I was down at Bar Amalfi last night, letting the owner get a taste of the Kendall Jackson Grand Reserve Chardonnay last night, in order to show him why he should take the Vintner"s Reserve off of the list. Well, before I opened the bottle, George poured me a glass of Primotivo from Italy.

Anyway, while I was letting the wine consume me quickly (I hadn"t eaten all day), I wound up conversing with the owner of Bliss Spa, on the 1700 block of Walnut Street. He was talking about collaborations between restaurants and spas for the upcoming spa week, but we"re going to get some things in motion before then as well. Already we have two restaurants on board (Bar Amalfi and Divina), and I expect to get two more restaurants on board by the end of the week. I might even be able to get one hotel involved as well.

So what this means to you is that there will be some spa and restaurant packages within the next week or two.

After we wrapped that up, and I had another glass of red, I headed to Divina and talked to Filiberto where I had another glass of red and a glass of Chardonnay (they were out of my favorite; Country Roads Tempranillo.

Our Mission: The Black Winer strives to expose African Americans [and others] to wines, without the flair, stuffiness, and airs of elitism and snobbery that you get from sommeliers and high level wine enthusiasts. We believe in finding something that you like the taste of, outside of the basic brands that you have been force-fed over the years through a combination of ethnically targeted advertising, and what people in your family have historically been drinking.
