Time to do a re-architecturing of the site

Tuesday, January 10, 2012

It"s been awhile since I launched this site, and there has been a lot that I have learned along the way.  In the past week, while looking at possibly helping a friend put their wine inventory online, as well as the case of sub-AVAs for wine.  So, I am going to do some rearchitecting before the end of this month, and in that, you"ll be able to drill down more effectively, as well as discover some wines in a more interesting and easy fashion.  I mean, how many people want to know which exact grapes were used in Port, but would rather be able to find port based on that one heading?  And there are times when a white wine has red wine grapes mixed in, and times when the reverse has happened as well.  And should sparkling wines made from Chardonnay also show up under Chardonnay?

So, I will think long and hard and start to work out something new that might even be more interesting.  Oh, I also moved the website over to GoDaddy; the old host still hasn"t given me a backup of the latest version of the old database, so I still am out of about five months of reviews.  Such is life.

Our Mission: The Black Winer strives to expose African Americans [and others] to wines, without the flair, stuffiness, and airs of elitism and snobbery that you get from sommeliers and high level wine enthusiasts. We believe in finding something that you like the taste of, outside of the basic brands that you have been force-fed over the years through a combination of ethnically targeted advertising, and what people in your family have historically been drinking.
