I was down at Greenville Wines in Delaware, picking up my order from the Brantwynn event when I knew that I needed just a simple white wine for everyday consumption. As I looked through the selections [and noticed that just about everything was priced between $15 and $30 with a lot more costing more than that]. However, next to the cash register there was a display of four wines from a producer called 'Hi.' And that's 'Hi' with an actual period.

After a quick hemming and hawing, I chose to pick it up and try it.

The taste itself is mildly tropical with just a little hint of white pepper in the background. I would offer that this wine has a little bit of buttery texture to it, but not taste. As far as I am concerned, it doesn't wow me, but for many people, it's something that they'll enjoy on just about every occasion. However, those folks aren't really the type to challenge their opinions of Chardonnay either!

Our Mission: The Black Winer strives to expose African Americans [and others] to wines, without the flair, stuffiness, and airs of elitism and snobbery that you get from sommeliers and high level wine enthusiasts. We believe in finding something that you like the taste of, outside of the basic brands that you have been force-fed over the years through a combination of ethnically targeted advertising, and what people in your family have historically been drinking.
