Those crafty Aussie's are great with the Syrah grape,
and truly being wiley rascals, they chose to call the grape
Shiraz. Well, I have had this bottle in my rack for
probably two years and since I wanted something to go with
my wings, and I was out of white wine, I chose this (the
wings were from Mad Mex and have garlic, cilantro and olive
oil as their toppings).
And I was floored!! This wine is smooth as hell, and has
some of the best berry finishes that you could find in a
Cabernet. I am not going to go into all of the little
subtle nuances, because to be honest, the garlic and
cilantro can really overpower things, but this wine still
holds it's own, being a very refreshing buddy during this
lunch.
Probably one of the best things is that this is an '05
wine and I am now drinking it in '09. I would definitly
recommend purchasing a case and maybe opening a bottle
every couple of months. I think that this wine will
definitely get better.
