Okay, so I didn't hit powerball, but there is always
MegaMillions, and while making the run to NJ, I figured
that I would also get me some gas and some wine. I
actually picked out four wines that I have never had before
as well as a couple of new grapes and some familiar ones,
but made by different people.
This is the second time that I have written about a
Salice Salentino and this is the second time that I
remember having one of these blends.
The wine is both spicy, like just a little bit of an
interesting cross between cinnamon and nutmeg, and also
medium bodied. It has some wonderful fruitness of
blackberries and maybe some dark cherries, and for the
ladies, it would go wonderfully with either chocolate, or a
rich chocolate cake with a fruit partition between each
layer. I myself chose to have this one with a steak, and
it rounded out the meal perfectly.
This is a wine that could be loved by both lovers of
white wines and red wines, and in the case of the white
wine afficianodos, I could see them coming over to the dark
side over something like this.
