I first tasted an ice wine in early 2007, probably moreso
turned off by the price, rather than the fact that ice
beers never seemed to enthuse me. Of course, the making of
wine and beer and different by leaps and bounds, but
that 'ice' moniker always sticks out in your memory.
But when I tasted my first ice wine, I was elated, tickled,
and sated by the plethora of attributes that it held;
sweetness, flavor, smoothness, and a nice subtle, yet
strong, nudge. And this wine lives up to that
experience.
While I don't like mango, the taste of it properly blended
with the flavors of papaya and apricot smooth it out into
something very acceptable, if not desired.
While ice wines aren't for everyday drinking (or are they),
I would say that if you want to whet your whistle, or that
of a lady, grab some of this, and dole it out every so
often through this coming winter.
