Albarino is a wonderful grape that seems to be just making inroads into the American market right now. I started seeing it turn up on shelves in the past two years and occasionally on some wine lists. It has a semi-effervescence and a minerally taste with just slight citrus that kind of reminds you of Hoegaarden beer with a lemon in it.

It's nice for food that is lightly spiced to just raw veggies. It would be nice with a seafood salad as well. However, this is not a wine with a lot of flavor, but something more serene and settling. The slight effervescence on your tongue is definitely a good aspect to it.

Our Mission: The Black Winer strives to expose African Americans [and others] to wines, without the flair, stuffiness, and airs of elitism and snobbery that you get from sommeliers and high level wine enthusiasts. We believe in finding something that you like the taste of, outside of the basic brands that you have been force-fed over the years through a combination of ethnically targeted advertising, and what people in your family have historically been drinking.
