I am normally used to a meaty Syrah, but not all are done
like that. I have been a fan of Concannon since being wowed
by their Petit Sirah, and after some studying, found out
that what is called Petit Sirah in the U.S. might actually
be related to Syrah instead of Durif, which is another varietal.
Now, expecting a meaty Shiraz when it's robust, and a
crappy one when it's not, this wine actually surprised me.
It's very low key in taste, with a very muted experience.
However, the longer you let it sit on your tongue, the more
it opens up with a combination of spice and dark plums.
All in all, this is not a bad wine. The key is for me to
taste another bottle and see if they are the same.
