There is a technique of wine making called 'sur lie' or
sur lees' in which the sediment from the yeast is kept in
the tank in which the wine is fermented. This gives an
interesting asset to the wine in regards to aroma and taste.
In this wine, it reminds me both of Kendall Jackson Grand
Reserve Chardonnay and also Beringer Napa Valley Chardonnay,
and it's a smell that signals to me that I will probably
love the wine.
This chardonnay is a wonderful beauty, with soft oak,
mellow exotic fruits and a hint of butter. While I have
come across livelier Chardonnay wines, I would still say
that this wine is a nice beauty, especially for the price.
It is a more reserved and upscale offering, fit for a higher
level of food. It's actually great! Now, the key is
finding other wines by this same producer.
