As we all know, I have been having a thing lately for
Rosenblum Cellars Zinfandel wines, and so the last time on a
run, I took the plunge and plunked down some money for this
bottle (the good thing is that someone paid me the same
amount for checking up on some things for them).
First, the color; this wine's purple is so deep, you can
actually get the impression that the chocolate component
gives it a slightly brown hue.
Second, the smell; you can definitely smell the high
alcohol percentage, along with cocoa and dark plums.
Third, the body; full-bodied with a deep velvet feel on
your tongue.
And last, the taste; this wine has a very decadent
backbone of dark sugar plums entwined with cocoa powder
sprinkled all throughout it. There is just the smallest
hint of tannins and oak. The fruit taste is actually more
of a combination of dark cherry and currant, while the
chocolate actually is more mint and vanilla together; note:
this died remind me of mint chocolate chip ice cream, and
you can glean a little mint smell in the nose as well.
I had this with a burger, but it would go good with any
red meat, especially game meats and maybe even some wild
fowl. This is for when you step you zin game up.
