Wente Vineyards is a great producer out in California, and over the years, I have been lucky enough to try some of their wines as well as meet some of their key people over the years. This is one of their 'Vineyard Selection' wines and I am delighted to try this one.

Initially, this yields citrus acidity, but there is a demure undercurrent of pear in it. This is not the traditional Sauv Blanc product that you get from Australia and New Zealand, as well as South America. This is one of those more refined Sauv Blancs that show you other aspects fo the grape. I get a little bit of minerality in this wine, which is also a nice aspect.

The wine is a very pale yellow, and the weight is very light. All in all, this wine would be great for light salads, especially those made with pasta.

Our Mission: The Black Winer strives to expose African Americans [and others] to wines, without the flair, stuffiness, and airs of elitism and snobbery that you get from sommeliers and high level wine enthusiasts. We believe in finding something that you like the taste of, outside of the basic brands that you have been force-fed over the years through a combination of ethnically targeted advertising, and what people in your family have historically been drinking.
