Okay, there are certain wines(grape varietals) which get an extremely bad rep because the first time that you experience one, it is substandard, or not like anything that you are used to. Gruner Veltliner is one of those and Pinot Blanc/Bianco is the other. Normally, most not done in an Alsatian style are too bland that you ask why anyone would drink it. This wine has delicate flowers, sublime acidity(citrus) and what seems like white peach or apricot (stonefruit).
The color is pale yellow, the nose/bouqet floral, and the mouth a gentle drop of silk on your tongue.
While I had this with a steak -- steak!!!! -- this would go great with a nice green salad, or even something like a pasta salad using tuna or a seafood salad.
The funny thing is that I think I met people from this label several years ago while pouring wines at the New York Wine Festival.
