I don't know when it was that I first fell in love with Petit Verdot, but I have never looked back.  The only thing that I haven't tasted yet is one wine which is 100% Petit Verdot.  I know that Eagle Eye Winery out in California does one, and that there is another winery in Pennsylvania that has one as well.

This wine is 51% Petit Verdot, 20% Merlot, 16% Cabernet Franc and 13% Cabernet Sauvignon.  It has one of the deepest aspects of smoke I have ever tasted mixed with tobacco and leather.  The nose reminds me of old money, you know, the Victorian manse with an office filled with richly built sturdy oversized furniture and a parlor with a parquet floor.  The finish lasts for more than a minute, which is pure luxury.

The aging of this wine is in French, American and Hungarian oak barrels.

Only 756 cases were produced and I have been fortunate to taste a couple of glasses of this.

Our Mission: The Black Winer strives to expose African Americans [and others] to wines, without the flair, stuffiness, and airs of elitism and snobbery that you get from sommeliers and high level wine enthusiasts. We believe in finding something that you like the taste of, outside of the basic brands that you have been force-fed over the years through a combination of ethnically targeted advertising, and what people in your family have historically been drinking.
