This is the second time I have had this wine, the first being our Zinfandel tasting for a wine lovers group I belong to. This was overshadowed probably by the fact that we were drinking some twenty plus wines that day.
This wine is dark and brooding, with very sinister but demure flavors of cassis and dark cherries lying underneath a facade that takes about five seconds to cut through. It is not overbearing with flavors, but has it just out of reach of an immediate taste, allowing you to only appreciate this wine if you savor it in your mouth.
This wine would pair well with dark chocolate as well as anything with some very serious decadence to it. It would be totally lost on most meats, and you can forget anything that isn't spiced well.
