I first came across Giesen last year while at a wine tasting featuring wines from the Pacific Rim. I was very much enthused and feel in love with their Riesling, which was the most unique Riesling that I have ever had. So, when I saw their sauvignon blanc, I decided to try it out.

While it's not as set apart from others of it's type as the riesling, this wine does have some legs to stand on. Not as sharp/crisp as other sauvignon blancs, the other flavors more than make up for that, and it becomes a very welcoming wine. It's the other tropical flavors, such as the slight pineapple hints, which fill out the body of this wine, and make it a nice fair for dining or just drinking on it's own merits.

Our Mission: The Black Winer strives to expose African Americans [and others] to wines, without the flair, stuffiness, and airs of elitism and snobbery that you get from sommeliers and high level wine enthusiasts. We believe in finding something that you like the taste of, outside of the basic brands that you have been force-fed over the years through a combination of ethnically targeted advertising, and what people in your family have historically been drinking.
