The fact is that I have been remiss in actually adding reviews for all of the wines that I have sampled in the past year. Call it having a job, dealing with the house, taxes, and what not, but I have a lot of typing to do. Additionally, there are a number of wines by Chaddsford Winery that are delectable that I will have to add over the next few weeks as well.

While at the winery for the Brandywine River Blues Fest 2008, I chose to pick up a couple bottles of what they weren't serving for the free tasting, including this rosť.

While blush wines get a bad rap in the states due to the bastard that is White Zinfandel, along with it's many copycats, they are still some nice wines, especially during a nice spring or summer day, so I had to try this one. What sets is apart is that it's a dry blush wine, and most of them aren't like this (just wait to hear my review of a rosť of Malbec).

While this wine has an interesting acidity to it, you are quickly approached with a serene dryness that puts your palate in a different state, especially if you were expecting the usual blush sweetness. This calming attribute will allow you to ingest it with food that is opposite from it, so as to allow the joy of contrasting flavors. While the winemaker, Eric Miller, writes that he can taste black curant, raspberry and rosewater, I myself really only taste the rosewater. But this is why he is the winemaker and myself the avid consumer!

This wine is worth a try, and you might find it's something, or at least it's style, that you will keep around just to surprise guests or to just have to slow things down.

Our Mission: The Black Winer strives to expose African Americans [and others] to wines, without the flair, stuffiness, and airs of elitism and snobbery that you get from sommeliers and high level wine enthusiasts. We believe in finding something that you like the taste of, outside of the basic brands that you have been force-fed over the years through a combination of ethnically targeted advertising, and what people in your family have historically been drinking.
