Another new wine that I am trying, this one is from
France (a region that I try to stay away from). I must
admit that catching the total tastes contained in this wine
was hard for me to do; I chose to first taste it with some
jerk chicken, spicy cabbage and peas and rice.
The wine itself had a slight chalky taste [to me, which
is representative of the soil that its grapes grow in], but
something else tugged at me, that made me think of grass
but quite wasn't. That taste was hay. To me, I taste
that, and muted flavors, though the winemaker's site claims
notes of exotic fruit and a citrus aroma. They do call the
bouquet delicate, which to me means an almost imperceptable
taste, if not a very weak one. Now, I want to say that
this is not a bad thing in a wine, because sometimes, you
want something very light in flavor that won't shape the
flavors of what you are eating.
There is no acidity in this wine, which complements the
[slight] taste perfectly. I would recommend this wine when
you want something that allows you to be you, and doesn't
force you one way or another.
