Site grand launch and contest

Tuesday, February 12, 2008

Well, the site has finally officially launched and I am taking three months for the inital push.  After about a year of development, tweaking, and of course doing work for other clients, attending a ton of tastings, and regular work in general, I finally am able to release version 1.0 to you, the public.

I still have a ton of short wine reviews to enter, as I have tried at least 300 other wines in the past year, and have my notes on them in a huge pile.

On this site, you can join as a member, build your own profile, and not only connect with other members that have similar tastes and interests, but also maintain your own online wine diary, add your reviews to the site reviews, and gain access to special offers and events.

With the launch of this site, we are also holding a prize giveaway, where the winners will be chosen on the 15th of September.  Go to the contest details to learn more.

Well, that's it in a nutshell. The only way to head now is up. In the immortal words of Russell Simmons, "Thank you and have a nice day."

Our Mission: The Black Winer strives to expose African Americans [and others] to wines, without the flair, stuffiness, and airs of elitism and snobbery that you get from sommeliers and high level wine enthusiasts. We believe in finding something that you like the taste of, outside of the basic brands that you have been force-fed over the years through a combination of ethnically targeted advertising, and what people in your family have historically been drinking.

We welcome your comments and suggestions. Please click here to send us an e-mail.
